My First Human Form Sculpt WIP (non replica, non mechanical)

I know this might be a little soft, this place can get pretty manly. but i wanted to share this anyway.

its nice to get away from batman and replica work and try something new for once. and it actually proves to me that sculpting can be quite enjoyable and not just a task at hand. This is my first human sculpture, and i chose my ex-girlfriend as a model. (she has no clue about this). I think ive put about 10 hours into maybe. im not sure. it actually hasn't been that much. it took me about 2 days to get it really what it looks like now. (sans the more fine details). The right side of the face is more refined than the left (our right, her left) and i don't have a lot of time to be working on this at the moment. but i find time in between my work.

this really has been a meaningful piece to me. i view it as pretty much my conveyance of what i find most beautiful. it really embodies alot of emotion and meaning for me, and i hope that when it is finally done, that love can be seen in it.

right of the bat, im glad i took these pictures, i can see that i have to lower the gaze of the right eye. right now its cocked to far up. didnt see that without the cameras help.

ruffout looks very nice, details and forms are starting to shine thru.

likenesses are one of the absolute toughest things to sculpt. but you did well on the nightowl so I expect this will turn out well

this has a very greek statue feel to it, mainly because
of the hair up and downward angled gaze

as you progress thru the finish be sure to
post more photos

And what’s ten years? Well, it’s roughly how long it takes to put in ten thousand hours of hard practice. Ten thousand hours is the magic number of greatness.

I was thinking about waiting on putting up any subject pics. maybe i will though.

And Keith, haha, its funny that you mention that, because i happen to have a set of pics much to the effect of...

too bad i know i couldn't share them. moreover, i don't even look at them myself anymore.

Thanks very much for the compliments.

Looking good so far, but I would post pics of the subject if you want us to critique the likeness. So far though, as a rough out of a human subject, it's well on it's way!

thanks! thing is, i really don't want to have critiques about the likeness. as this is a very personal piece in that regard, and i can take care of that as well as i can for myself. but as far as critiques on actual features, (say if something doesnt look right, organic enough) then by all means id love to hear.
