Kieth I used to run almost exclusively..... I found that I stopped losing weight at 174lbs, and while maintaining about the same body fat/extra skin (was 300lbs most of my life) I have put on over 40lbs of muscle, am well over 200lbs now. Basically I am saying that adding weight training into the fray will help you achieve your goals faster.... just get the pull-up bar from walgreens and start with body weight! Skip the creatine at first. I went from a 37" chest and a 35" waist to a 46" chest and 36" waist! Also I will be leaning out a bit more this and next month, but I gotta tell ya, I'm almost in the shape I wanna be in to wear my new Adam West suit and flex a little :)

Yep doing weights as well as aerobic exercise will help you lose weight as doing weights helps create active muscle tissue that requires calories. so basically you become a fat burning machine. Like I said you still need to do both to get the best results emoticonumpiron:

walking is a low intensity activity which is ideal for fat burning but you have to do it for alot longer duration. Mixing your exercise up like running one day then cycling the next then a session on the rower will help you avoid knee injuries form constant jogging

cheers

:hijack: When it comes to running vs. walking, it's all about energy metabolism. Running uses more fast twitch muscle fibers. Those fibers need energy quickly, so they turn to carbohydrates and muscle glycogen. Walking uses more type 1 fibers, which don't require energy as quickly, so fat is typically used as an energy source. :lifting:

P.S

That is looking friggen sweet Keith!

Weight training and cardiovascular exercise are definetly both part of the equation (so is Nutrition :stick: ). When it comes to cardio, you can also do H.I.I.T (High Intensity Interval Training). Basically, light jog/fast walk for a minute or so, then Sprint for 1 minute and thirty seconds. The constant switching of jog/walk to a sprint causes the body to burn fat like crazy. It's also very difficult to do if you don't run or jog hahaha. Great for fat loss though.

If you want to burn more fat while you're weight training, make sure to keep your rest periods between sets to a maximum of 60 seconds (You won't be able to train quite as heavily though...) . Keeps the body's core temperature up, keeps the heart working, ect...

Keith, if you have a gym that offers kickboxing classes that utilizes a heavy bag to hit... and not that tai bo bull sh*t, i recommend that. I do this hour long class of doing push ups, crunches, running, etc.., and punching and kicking the crap out of a heavy bag for 1 hour straight. like mini boot camp when you have the right instructor. i've never come out of anything more sweaty and feeling energized in my life. that's if you have the money, of course. best of luck to ya
