The Holy Grail of begins props
Hi all.
today I have finally managed to get my hands on an original fiberglass casting of the begins cowl straight from the movie mould.
This thing is beautifull. I had a begins cowl which was cast from a restored original but that isnt a patch on this.
You have all seen rd cowls cast from foam cowls which has been the best out there and are really great but this is on another level, no foam shrinkage, no distortion from remoulding, as pure as the day it was cast.
sorry to rant but i am quite excited, its 9.30 pm here and i just got in from work so ill take and post pics first thing in the morning. sorry to be a tease

Congrats dude, that is awesome! For the record, my copy is taken from a silicone copy with no shrinkage or distortion that I could tell. Would love to compare them and find out for sure though.
I recently got a panther from the movie molds, so I know how pure a form this is. Looking forward to the pics, lets see this thing.

just for the record folks. Im not dissing jeffs cowl at all, i do not have one but i have seen pics and it is the best cowl available in my opinion. I totally respect jeff and the efforts he goes through to make the stuff he does.

Re: The Holy Grail of begins props
Beautiful!
IMO, this cowl and the silicon ones show a lot of nice detail that almost gets lost when reproduced in uncoated foam-- some structural loss from shrinkage but also less highlight and shadow rendering from foam's ultra matte finish.
This looks much better to me than what ended up on film.
Very cool.
