Watchmen: Nite Owl
I've done some Google searching, but haven't found much other than crappy Rubies stuff, but, does anyone have any interest in the Nite Owl costume?
Personally, I think it's a bad ass costume. In some respects, I almost like it more than some of the Batsuits.
Is anyone sculpting the suit? Are there any forums for the Watchmen that is similar to the Bat forums?
Just curious.

Re: Watchmen: Nite Owl
slightly better then the rubies castings but not by much
his sculpts are always short of great
his work is along the same lines as xtremedesignFX
if he had proper body casts to work from it would help
his forms a lot and then using a proper clay, if he switched clays, alone that could make an amazing difference in his work, but proper forms is number 1 on the list for any good sculpt
his begins is the best thing he's done sofar but all his bat and robin stuff was very halloween costume
you would be better off getting a decent copy of the rubies, take some time to reinforce it as needed to bring it back in shape, then mold it and body shop it back to perfect
I was going to do that but could not find a good copy at comicon
--- And what’s ten years? Well, it’s roughly how long it takes to put in ten thousand hours of hard practice. Ten thousand hours is the magic number of greatness.

Not sure what resin is referring to Chiro's sculpt looks pretty darn good compared to rubies. Looking at the sculpt the form looks to be right.
As for proper clay as an artist your clay doesn't matter. What matters is knowing how to use it. He seems to get some great surfaces from that stuff.

Re: Watchmen: Nite Owl
Form and Media make all the difference in the world.
Ask anyone doing this in the industry and they will tell you both are critical before you start.
Clay makes 100% the difference, that's why there are 1000 types and makers of clay because each has a specific use. And for that cowl or any bat piece the clay should be very very stiff otherwise you will never get it right.
Photos hide a lot, and when you learn to look at whats really there you will see what I am talking about.
Or not and you will think that everything is just fine and that's fine too.

Re: Watchmen: Nite Owl
I agree form is very important with out it things will be thrown way off, but media that is user specific. That is why they make 1000s of clay types. From what Ive seen he looks to know how to use his clay of choice.
Photos do hide a lot, but you have to also know they also don't show everything. Since we see things with two eyes we see things with two perspectives thrown together a camera cant do this flatting anything you shot with the camera.
Being a sculptor I believe I have a good sense of knowing when something is fine and not fine. But I don't work in the industry so maybe I don't know.

Re: Watchmen: Nite Owl
Yes.
This is my hard copy of my sculpt. i am refinishing it because of a botched attempted of molding it via silicone. Next time i wont mess it up, something wierd happened with the silicone to the surface. anyways here are pics.
and if your curious what $70-100 material of a botched silicone and mother mold looks like:
this is why its useless:
hope to mold again soon. l am really proud of it and it literally took me months until i was happy to call it perfect.

Re: Watchmen: Nite Owl
Wow Rev, that sculpt looks fantastic. Can't wait to see the whole thing done! I'm definately in the market for a full suit.
Keep up the great work! And, please, keep posting progress pics.
