Re: Final Wearer. TDK style.

The recasting debate is as endless as space. Best not to get over tight about the pattern cause making the begins cape in anything but the right fabric is pretty pointless, a Begins suit with a fabric panther cape would look exactly the same even the pattern is all different.

I'd say that Kevins Begins and BDs BEgins are equally inaccurate but both are close enough to convey the original intent and only when you get down to the finer points will you find differences in them and the originals, and last I checked there are only enough of us on one hand that care about trying to get things 100% accurate, though knowing only 90% is possible.

V1 V2 V3 V55 doesn't matter, nothing will be exact to the originals because even when you copy an original with silicone you still get variances from the original.

I prefer to go with imitation is the purest form of flattery as long as great respect and effort is placed to replicate the originals and not just crank out parts for the masses which is the common trait in the industry now.

To me it comes down to the pursuit of perfection in any form is a life not wasted and what the original motivation was when the cave was started. So if more can come to that moto the better and all benefit from the creative energies that follow.

But CRAP is king and the masses out number you 1,000 000 000 to 1 so you have to do your best to make sure your work stands out from the masses

SO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAPE DOWN!!!!!!!!

Re: Final Wearer. TDK style.

Couple more shots from the past week.. Suit wore pretty well. No broken panels and the only complaints I have about it are the damn floating shoulders. I added some extra cording to them and they still would not cooperate and needed adjustment. I had some marvelous ideas on how to combat this but more on that some other time.

Here is a shot with my girls. Check out the super fly custom catwoman my mother tossed together out of neoprene scraps for my big girl, Isabella. She always keeps scraps around for some reason (in my old lady voice) "you never know when you need just a little scrap".. this is actually that textured neoprene that people sent her.. you cant see it because we were short on time, but all of the details are there- the smooth line around the ribs/breast area... it is so cute for a quick "whip up". She even has a functional utility belt complete with old cell phone and carrying pouch. And of course- Lili, is my little batgirl.

Suit looks much better in this lighting.

and a couple from my office.. Oddly enough, I am now a Product Test Engineer in the textiles and garment division
of the company I have been with since sophomore year of college. So- I work with a lot of women... ha.

My one friend here was going to try to do a Tony Stark of some sort- but is not "in this". It then dawned on me... NURSE JOKER!! I have always wanted to do the makeup.. have zero experience. We did a little shopping and I mocked up the scars and them molded them with a quick blob of ultracal. Theyre not awesome- but I think he did really good. He actually robbed me of my best costume trophy- but because it is my work and my idea- I feel I won (ha).

OH- unfortunately- this is the second time he wore the get-up and the make-up was not my work this time.. This SOB was so into this- He SLEPT in it so that it would be extra "gamey" when the party started. Maniac.

Part of the party at work- which is more or less a blow off day at work- is decorating your lab. I have a very fun manager and she knows of my bat hobby from a couple of years ago when I came to work in a TDK suit. Well, when I said batman doesnt exist anymore after this year, she was quick to say that our "theme" will be gotham city. As you can tell by everyone else's costumes, we really did it up. Here are some of the prop buildings that the techs made.. The one girl in the poison ivy costume went crazy and made a bridge!! I was floored.

we did not win the best theme. I just dont know how.

very cool man. you wear the suit very well. Great pictures. I'm sad to read that after this you'll be out... hopefully not out of the hobby and this forum completely. You've helped me out a lot over the last few years in this hobby and are a valuable source of info. But whatever ends up happenin, i wish ya all the best bro.

Na, not out. Just not likely to build anything else. This hobby has been a very large, if not the largest part of my life since 2007. I still feel like the new guy at times..but wow.. it's been a while.

Ill be around.

you are the new guy LOL

why are the floating shoulders an issue??
they are bolted into the clavicals and then the lower
shoulder is "floating but its still attached to the upper shoulder bell
