Re: batman returns costume build ( jester fx )

thanks i am really happy with how it came out. after seeing it cast up there are 2 minor changes i want to make but it so small and honestly does not take away form the sculpt and will make it easy to tell mine form others.

over the next month or so i will be working with a professional photographer and having all of my props and costumes photographed so i can have magazine quality photos to show you all

also for those who do not know i am working on revising my 89 and doing a foam latex full batsuit possibly a foam latex returns i am stoked

If you're looking for feedback, the lines around the ab area look wavy and not uber symmetrical (esp the horizontal ones) - I'm not a returns specialist so I may not be noticing some other items too, but that's what jumps out to me.

But, overall it can still be a fun display and the average non-bat fan would never notice. I'm sure it'll look very cool as part of your collection and it's fun to see continued work.

you need to back the pectorals with foam, start with fabric foam (green stuff) cut into the shape of the muscle and glued in, that will help reduce the waver in the most common area to look bad, you also might need an extra layer or two right there before its pulled

hmm good idea like i said these are photos provided by 2 other people. my good friend nate is who the suit is for so since he is a different size than me and my mannaquen is obviously not his body and unfortinatly not close enough i did not want to mount it and not have it fit proper. the few suits i have mounted for commission spiderman jobs i would back the full latex muscles with foam from michaels meant for people who make pillows and it worked great as it allowed it to hold its shape and still flex

best to fill the pecks with cold foam them and make them nearly flat, human muscle can impress on 4lb rather easily if the suit is mounted correctly

do it in the mold not after otherwise the cold foam will pull and create the same type of waver that your trying to avoid

go study muscle anatomy in the meantime!
its critical to know it inside and out

When I back filled my Begins chest, I actually overfilled it just a bit with the foam Jay was talking about. The foam was forgiving so a slight overfill filled it out nicely without bulging - the trick was to also glue around the edges of the foam (rubber to undersuit) so that it didn't puff out the whole area but just filled the space cleanly and somewhat tightly.

I'll defer to Jay if he's got other recommendations since my experience is more limited, but that may be useful info for you
