Re: Urethane/Foam Latex Cowl Comparison
That urethane cowl looks quite uncomfortable on you, Madison. The eye area is the biggest difference - the foam looks just so much more comfortable since the cowl expands around your features rather than the other way around.
Also, the back view shots are awesome on the foam cowl. Really looks powerful and menacing. The urethane looks to be buckling a little and throws off the smooth curves of the sculpt.
Foam is beautiful. It's something I'd definitely like to do once I get a really nice set of armor properly mounted up on the neoprene suit.

Re: Urethane/Foam Latex Cowl Comparison
The urethane cowl didn't usually look that bad on me. Not sure whats up in the photos. The feeling of wearing foam versus urethane is night and day. I cleaned it up after wearing it last weekend, washed it off, dried, cleaned up the outside with armor all, and dusted the inside with baby powder.
It didn't slide on after I washed off the baby powder, its pretty grippy without the powder, not as bad as urethane though.
If I had the means to do it, I'd have 3 foam Begins suits and would never look back to urethane or slip latex. Get sweaty, soak one suit, just get in another.

Re: Urethane/Foam Latex Cowl Comparison
Hey, Lord Pupmind,
You and I have the same cowl, when you say "wash it", how exactly do you do this? I understand the use of baby powder, but as far as using anything else, I'm kind of apprehensive to do so. Could you tell me exactly how you clean it and what you use? I just want to make sure I don't screw it up.

Re: Urethane/Foam Latex Cowl Comparison
I just put it in the bathtub and gave it a good rinsing. Then gently squeezed out the water, and put it in front of a fan. Almost dry, then put it back on the cowl stand. Then fully dried a couple days later, wiped with armor all, and sprinkled baby powder inside. Ready to wear again. I think you can use a mild dish soap, which I'm going to do next time, it'll have two weekends of sweat in it soon.

Re: Urethane/Foam Latex Cowl Comparison
here's a tip: put a little lemon scent dish soap in it if you get sweat in it. this will freshen it up. Also let it throughly dry before dusting it with baby powder, otherwise the powder is gona gum up. You can prop a hair dryer on LOW heat, pointing it up inside it. That will get dry much faster.
Also don't forget to rinse out the water with the dish soap, use cool water. cool water removes soap.

You wouldn't happen to have an extra foam kneecap laying around, would ya Bob?

Re: Urethane/Foam Latex Cowl Comparison
I am actually surprised by how close the 2 look, although you just can't beat that light-sucking porous surface-finish of foam for authenticity.
Bob, you must not get as much shrinkage as some foam runners, right? With your lighter, higher whipped stuff being less dense, i would think that would mean less shrink.
Great cowls.
Thanks for the comparison shots!!!

Re: Urethane/Foam Latex Cowl Comparison
The urethane also looks much tighter in the chin and septum/eye area. Like its pushing into your face in both areas. the Foam Latex looks much more comfortable. But unfortunately wont last nearly as long as the rubber. Kinda a catch 22
