What we need is to install some sort of liquid cooling system in the entire suit like they use in computers. Have tubes of coolant running throughout the suit and cowl to distribute the nice coolant.

you can already buy vests like that, Anakinos found one before. But too, i still think id rather not wear one.

Lots of foam monster suits have hose built in so the crew can pump ice water in between shots...keeps the actor from roasting.

Hard to carry ice water around with you, but the little cape clip idea might work...not meaning your wampa will need cape clips though...LOL!

I'm thinking maybe one of those camel-back water backpacks for hydration if I'm going to be in it very long such as a parade or big photo event. The head will be easy to remove though, so under most circumstances, I'll be able to just pop it off to get some fresh air and water.

But back to the cowl, I'll be sure to post pics as I work on my cooling idea for it. And at least that will show whether it will be effective, or simply another one of my many ideas with good intentions that just isn't practical. emoticon

I hate these kinds of threads, but I have to point out that the reference cowl Janty sent me he pulled in some stuff called "dragonskin" (smoothon product). Imagine a cowl made of a heavy dish towel soaked in water, and that was it. I couldn't get much use out of it for reference, you couldn't prop it on anything, it held no shape at all, just sagged like a wet towel. I threw it out shortly after getting it. I have never been a fan of super soft urethane.
Also, you have to remember that any hard copy of any suit you get was sculpted to compensate the shrinkage of foam. Generally shrinks 5% of the contained mass, i.e. ears may go down more proportionally than the side of the face. Also brand of curing agent affects amount of shrinkage. And often each piece of foam can shrink slightly different than the next, depending on HOW DENSE THE FOAM WAS RAN. IE THE WHIPPING CYCLE.

  Here was my main reference:

Looks great on you Jeff! Man, Christian has a HUGE head. Was this casted off a Foam Latex cowl or the mold for that? There would be a reason of it is the mold for the foam, to allow shrinkage, but if it was casted off the foam one, Christian's ego is going to his head emoticon

I'd like to know this too, if it is cast from a movie foam cowl, or a master. It seems to me like a foam cowl would be really hard to make a mold from, if it is of the super soft variety like what Bob mixes. Just looking at the size of your cowl, I'm guessing its preskrinkage.

The biggest amount of shrinkage I noticed from your sculpt, to the foam on the Begins cowl was the crown of the head, and the nose. I don't have the urethane cowl to judge anymore, but I'd guess head size went from over 24 to a nice 23.5. Really wouldn't be surprised if it shrunk 10% judging from the two pieces of yours I had.

Sorry, I can not reveal the source of the master copy I own. I can however tell you it is not the same source as Janty as mine did not need any restoration. emoticon Please understand I am respecting the sellers wishes.
