Re: Spidey4fun's TDK Build Log.

I now understand Kris's pain on the carbon parts on this suit. Not to mention to cost involved in buying more clear urethane and corbon matting.. Not Cheap!!

Here some pics of some reject parts....

The last two pics are of the carbon arm parts. Kris had the made the mold for these but didnt have any success making usable parts... so I thought I'd have a go... same thing happened.

After giving it some thought I decided to make the carbon parts for the arms in a flat mold, rather then the curved mold with the back. I borrowed Kris softest arm inserts and made a mold. But I wasnt happy with the result.

Soft Arm Insert.

So I thought I'd make my own... as I always do!!

This way I have total control over the thickness over the entire part and can bevel the edges so it locks in place.

Using the same mold I made a urethane part to go inside the arm mold... and a flat carbon part .

Once removed from the arm....

And when it finially cures it'll sit perfectly inside the arm. Here's how it will look.... I'm using the reject part I cast in Kris's mold for this picture.. but you get the idea.

 :bug:

Brad... will either you or Kris be making the carbon arms available to others any time soon??

That is the only carbon part I am missing on my suit and would really like to upgrade to it at some point this year!

Wow brad- your an animal.

Very nice work. I was thinking the exact same thing on the arm piece.

What clear are you using? All i can find is stuff that is not suitable for home use. I.E Dangerous.

So i cant work with carbon until the weather breaks...

keep up the good work-

Hey Jeff.. Im not doing anything with the gaunts. Im happy with my pour from Kris's molds. I managed to inject a set of shore 85 fins with no bubbles and ran the gaunts in shore 60... so they're nice and solid.

The clear urethane is called Flexiclear. I think it's made here locally. A vac chamber is required to rid the mix of air bubbles... but it's pretty easy stuff to use. Just EXPENSIVE!!!!!!

Brad.
