Free Comic Book Day Event! (Now with pics!)
What a great day! Our local shop, Tony's Kingdom of Comics, hosted a big event with local comic artists and sculptor, and the most costumed characters I've seen together outside of a convention!
I appeared as Batman from 9:30am - 6pm! Fully suited up all day. Boy, was I sore the rest of the evening, but it was totally worth it. Giving autographs, posing for photos, and having fun interacting with other costumers.
In addition to me as Batman, we had top quality Star Wars characters from the local 501st -- Darth Vader, Chewbacca, couple storm troopers, a Tie Pilot, Rorschach, a couple GI Joe characters + Cobra Commander, female Predator, Boba Fett, Padme, Old Ben Kenobi, and of course The Joker!
Joker was fantastic. Perfect costume, incredible make-up, and dead-on personality and mannerisms. With so many Star Wars characters, to was nice to have another Gothamite to work with.
We also had an odd mix of weather -- light rain to start the day, then sunny and warm, then a torential downpour with thunder and lightning, then back to super sunny, but cold and extremely windy! The wind was fun though -- several of us went down to the corner by the main street where the wind was gusting strong enough to push you over. I let the cape fly and our photographer got some incredible shots. I can't wait to see how they turned out.
I'll post pics as soon as I have them.

Re: Free Comic Book Day Event!
Finally I have a few pictures! Hundreds were taken, yet everyone's been slow to upload. And my Mom's computer is down, so she hasn't sent me any of her pics yet. (I'm going to just borrow the memory card and get them myself. )
Anyway, here's what I have for now!
Joker and Batman going to the gorcery store to get some rolls of pennies for the shop. If you look carefully, we're in front of a dog groomer place, and those little pups HATED Joker. It was awesome.
Inside the store at customer service in front of the checkout lines. Man, there were some great expressions on the faces of customers in line.
And finally one of the posed shots -- although each of us was looking at a different camera, and in various stages of our pose... Oh well, not too bad.
In all, we generated over $600 in donations for charity! We had a little R2-D2 pop-top trash can out front by the life size Yoda display for people to push donations in. That's a pretty good pull for one day of posing for pics and whatnot. Good stuff!

I can imagine you made those cashiers day by popping in like that.

Just got my Mom's memory card this evening, but she didn't get as many shots as I thought - although a couple were pretty good.
The official 501st Legion photographer took hundreds of shots so I can't wait to see some of those, especially the ones with me in the super strong wind gusts with the cape flying.
One of the best things to the whole event was meeting more local costumers though! I joined up on the Cloud City Garrison forum and I'm definitely planning to do a Star Wars themed suit now so I can join up with them on official Legion appearances too.

David those are some fantastic shots man. It looks like you had such a good time. I have just finished my TDK inspired suit and I can't wait to suit up and get out there and do the good fight for charities.
Kudos and congrats to you, your Joker friend and The Star Wars Legion on a job well done.
Oh, BTW, when do we expect to see you two on "Caught on Tape" from the store surveillance camera?
