My begins display progress
hi all.
as you know, i have been lucky enough to get a batshop begin cowl and chest so im working on the best way to display it.
heres the plan, i have a bale face cast, im going to turn it into a full head and shoulders, cast it in silicone, paint it and make it some acrylic eyes. i will then mount the chest piece and attach a cape to the back and top it off with the cowl.
Then whole thing will be mounted on a custom display stand.
as its a few different bits, i thought i would collate it all in one thread.
heres the pics so far,
cowl
chest piece
the the bust as it currently stands, still alot of sculpting to do, the eyes need reshaping and are throwing it off at the moment but you get the idea

Re: My begins display progress
YOU SUCK!
and I'm jealous~ :biglol:
when you get a second I sent you an email a couple days back.
are the ears staying or going? because obviously with a cowl they go to waste and make it harder to get the cowl on if they are harder material
unless the end goal here is silicone, then never mind~
very nice work on feathering in the headcast into the bodycast, when your done I'm sure it will look near seamless
this is kinda reminding me of that silicone arnold bust that someone did on RPF/FX Lab

Very very nice Rich!
It's a lot of work but it will all come together and kick ass.
Very jealous also.
Did you get to visit the studio you got these from and see other cool bat stuff?

Re: My begins display progress
thanks guys.
its a fun side project and one that hopefull i can continue the theme with some other cowls im getting soon (thanks Jeff).
@Jay, I did get you email thanks, I just need to work out a few thing before I can give you the info you need but if i havent got back to you by midweek, can you give me a nudge?
As Im going for hyper realism on the bale bust, the final piece will be cast in silicone so the ears are staying. The main reason for this is that if i lose the ears, the bust is only ever good for a cowl stand but this way its a complete bust and as such, is more versatile.
Where you see the blended edge, thats where Im going to part the mould so the top half will be silicone and the chest, shoulders will be fiberglass and ill build an internal flange in the core so the 2 will bolt together so I can just have the head if needs be.
@ Kev, got it, back atcha.
@brad, got your message, replied bud.
I have bought the sculpt home now to continue on it, going to add all the texture and pores and then its done.
thanks for the support guys

Re: My begins display progress
Mid week nudge, you got it
If you worked it well, but it may require a rework, you could easily have John Connors and a Preston out of this as well as a few other rolls he has played, so the ears staying makes total sense because your looking for the bust to be its own piece of work regardless of pointy ears, plus this part of it is your work and not the batshops
so I get and respect that big time
here is the gun if you need one should you choose to do a hair punched Preston
