It's going to be really fun! As for damn cats -- yes, the hair is the worst part. I have cat hair EVERYWHERE and it's almost a full time job keeping it off the costume stuff. I also have my brother's cat since he gave up on it, so every once in a while, the two fight... they recently had a rolling brawl that went by the Keaton mannequin and subsequently ripped a small wedge out of the latex cape. I wanted to wring his neck after that one! They also just LOVE to jump up on the counter right at the most inopportune times... For example, when I'm mixing resin or silicone and about to pour... Shame on me for forgetting to close the door, but still....nondisclosed_email@example.com (The Kreator)Fri, 01 May 2009 16:48:19 +0000 Re: The Kreator Begins!https://bthecave.runboard.com/p612,from=rss#post612https://bthecave.runboard.com/p612,from=rss#post612very cool stuff bro love the way the suit turned out nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mexicanbat)Fri, 01 May 2009 16:22:28 +0000 Re: The Kreator Begins!https://bthecave.runboard.com/p608,from=rss#post608https://bthecave.runboard.com/p608,from=rss#post608quote:The Kreator wrote: I picked up the Grapple Gun from "grapplebats" on Ebay last summer. I feel special! It was just below the surface, where you could see it below the urethane. Not bashing Jeff's work AT ALL, as it was for free, and still is the smoothest item I've ever received. I don't really like cats after en experience when I was 4, but some are great! nondisclosed_email@example.com (doesitcomeinblack101)Fri, 01 May 2009 09:43:36 +0000 Re: The Kreator Begins!https://bthecave.runboard.com/p605,from=rss#post605https://bthecave.runboard.com/p605,from=rss#post605quote:doesitcomeinblack101 wrote: About that Jeff, I would recommend to spray the mold with pressurized air before you cast lol. There were a few tiny cat hairs that no adult would have noticed, only kids with keen sight embedded less then a mm. underneath the surface. No problem removing them either, just used my nails, no harm done to the belt either. Flawless as usual Jeff, and no one would have noticed except me lol. Is your cat white? Thanks for the tip big guy, I usually do that. The belt you have was my first cast from that mold, its possible I did it quick and I did not plan on selling it, that is part of the reason you got it free Demonbat could be right, if there was a hair in the mold it likely would have got fully embedded and you would not be able to pull it out. Glad you like it though buddy!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Infrno)Fri, 01 May 2009 08:24:20 +0000 Re: The Kreator Begins!https://bthecave.runboard.com/p604,from=rss#post604https://bthecave.runboard.com/p604,from=rss#post604quote:doesitcomeinblack101 wrote: About that Jeff, I would recommend to spray the mold with pressurized air before you cast lol. I don't think you would be able to remove cat hairs embedded in urethane with your nails. They probably got stuck on there after it was cast. Animal hairs have a way of getting stuck in things, ever tried vacuuming a chair/rug with hairs on it and there are a few hairs that just won't vacuum up because they somehow got stuck or "embedded" in the rug?nondisclosed_email@example.com (DemonBat)Fri, 01 May 2009 07:52:10 +0000 Re: The Kreator Begins!https://bthecave.runboard.com/p602,from=rss#post602https://bthecave.runboard.com/p602,from=rss#post602About the grappler, I don't think he makes them anymore. I'll have plenty more pics this coming weekend after the Free Comic Book Day event. Really excited about that! The owner of the comic shop set up a special room next door just for the costumers to take a break and will be providing plenty of drinks and snacks throughout the day. Also, he's giving hefty discounts on all sorts of cool stuff in exchange for us doing the appearance. I may have to pick up those Hot Toys Batman and Joker figures that I've been eyeing for a while. nondisclosed_email@example.com (The Kreator)Thu, 30 Apr 2009 17:41:03 +0000 Re: The Kreator Begins!https://bthecave.runboard.com/p581,from=rss#post581https://bthecave.runboard.com/p581,from=rss#post581Wow it looks like it was tailored to you, looking sharp as a Bat!!!!nondisclosed_email@example.com (NOCTURNALKNIGHT)Thu, 30 Apr 2009 15:48:23 +0000 Re: The Kreator Begins!https://bthecave.runboard.com/p351,from=rss#post351https://bthecave.runboard.com/p351,from=rss#post351You guys and your Begins suits! This is going to be so much fun as long as it's not raining that day. The comic shop is too tiny and packed with stuff they'll also have 3-4 tables set up for local comic artists to sign autographs, so those of us in costume will have to be outside the whole time. I took some other shots with Jawafive's metal batarangs, but most turned out blurry since I was trying to hold the camera and take shots while wearing the gloves. But one turned out pretty good taken like the others -- nondisclosed_email@example.com (The Kreator)Wed, 22 Apr 2009 15:38:19 +0000 Re: The Kreator Begins!https://bthecave.runboard.com/p336,from=rss#post336https://bthecave.runboard.com/p336,from=rss#post336I ALWAYS love your pics, David. Just being in the suit for maybe an hour or so, and I was starting to drip towards the end of my pics. Of course, yesterday we had record high temp for the day. I'm just really hoping we'll be in the mid 60's on FCBD. One thing I discovered during my Halloween appearance (when I was suited up for 16 hours.....) was to use a kitchen towel rolled up in front of my neck under the cowl. Keeps those embarrassing sweat lines off the chest. nondisclosed_email@example.com (The Kreator)Wed, 22 Apr 2009 11:54:15 +0000 Re: The Kreator Begins!https://bthecave.runboard.com/p328,from=rss#post328https://bthecave.runboard.com/p328,from=rss#post328Looks awesome dude. Yes, important to hydrate for sure...lol *edit: I don't think coke hydrates you though bro nondisclosed_email@example.com (Infrno)Wed, 22 Apr 2009 05:15:17 +0000 The Kreator Begins!https://bthecave.runboard.com/p326,from=rss#post326https://bthecave.runboard.com/p326,from=rss#post326Finally, after countless months and months waiting for the armor I traded for back in August, I finally decided I just need to get another set so I don't miss my next charity appearance. So, thanks to Hunterbat, I've got some armor to add to my other bits and pieces to put together a full Begins suit! Well, ok, I'm missing cape clips here, but that will be remedied within the week. I will be appearing along with the local 501st, a couple Predators, and likely a few other costumed characters at our local comic shop on May 2nd for "Free Comic Book Day" with a charity fundraiser supporting the Doernbecker Children's Hospital. So here's the break-down of the suit: J-Cowl (urethane) Kreator Kape Prototype (moleskin) Mephisto Armor (latex) KBillan v1 Belt Prototype (resin) Hells Kitchen Gauntlets (urethane) Inkmonkey Gloves (neoprene) Inkmonkey Undersuit (lycra) Gotham 100 Boots (pleather) KBillan CNC Cape Clips (to be added) Friendly Batman Reminder -- While in costume, STAY HYDRATED!   nondisclosed_email@example.com (The Kreator)Wed, 22 Apr 2009 01:07:30 +0000
