fiberglass mold


hi everyone fisrt of all let me say im a great fan of your work

purely awesome

and i have a question i have worked with fiberglass and im doing a torso armor how do you make it so it has no seamlines or am i wrong and it has to be done in 2 pieces like a plaster mold?

than you all hope you can help

im molding a generic armor i sculpted a while back

i made the original mold in plaster and got some copies out but i want to make a fiberglass modl of it and make fiberglass master so i can modify it

It would be a little more $, but I would recommend a silicone mold (moldmax), with a 2 piece fiberglass jacket. Then you could pull a resin or a plaster copy if you wanted, which is much easier to sand and work with.

If you show a pic of the torso, it would be easier to come up with a game plan and see if a 1 piece mold is even possible.

Whats the back of the sculpture look like? Does the sculpt cover the entire back or does it stop by before the spine like the movie suits?

To do that right, you're going to have to do a proper mold even if it's just to get one hard copy out. Trust me, I've tried lots of shortcuts to avoid a throw away mold just for body-shopping phase, but it's unavoidable.
