Begins cape/cowl rings: NEW PICS !!

Hey Bros...

....did a search, and scoured the archives, but couldn't find an answer exactly.

What I'm looking for is a source for accurate rings that attach to the cowl for the cape. I'm not sure that a simple key ring is what was used exactly. The real ones seem quite small and possibly a bit thicker. Also, I can't deduce from this photo whether or not the ring is separated like it would be with a key ring.

Anyone have an answer on this ?? Also, does anyone know the most accurate and/or best way to attach them to the cowl ??

They almost look like the rings on straps or cheap belts... You know, the ones where there are 2 of them and you loop the strap or belt thru both than back thru one to make it tight? Just a thought.

its not a key ring

the rings were solid

and FYI that is the same cowl, it did not sell in november so they moved it to PIH In December where is sold. Its from the collection of PSOL.

So this is what I [sign in to see URL] like what is used is called a "jump ring" used in jewelry, chainmail etc. The most convenient supplier I found is a canadian chainmail retailer.

The stainless steel rings do have a cut in them, which would not be visible when attached, but they are not split like a standard key chain ring. Themselves are cheap, but shipping is more than the product itself. They are available at appx. 16mm in diameter, with wire diameter being [sign in to see URL], which is just about what Sylar measured.

Haven't purchased yet, as I'm trying to find a U.S. option to save on [sign in to see URL]'ll see.

Here's what they look like....

I think I posted a reply on BOTB a while back about this, but I had good luck finding almost identical rings at Michaels here in Salem. Craft Warehouse or any similar store should have them available too. Just check the jewelry section. At the one in Salem, they have a good selection near the leather-working tools/materials.

I may do [sign in to see URL] not sure if I'd get the correct size and if they'd be quality stainless steel at a place like Michaels. I may swing by there before ordering though, would save me on shipping anyway.

I was surprised they even had something close, but quality seems fine. They have a variety pack with different sizes, so I ended up getting that. Some were too big, some too small, but a few that were perfect.

[sign in to see URL]'ll be stopping by there on the way home from work here shortly. Do you know if they have any fabric supplies also ?? I'll need the strapping used to attach them.

Not really. Joanns carries some 3/4" Nylon straps.
